My name is John Scanlon and I’m the owner of Top-em Drop-em Tree Service, a Cornerstone Development LLC entity. I’ve lived in Pine since 2002.

I specialize in technical-climbing tree removals and often get calls from other area tree companies when they need a technical climber to remove precarious trees near structures. I have a diverse climbing history since 1993 and have been providing technical tree climbing services since 2008. I was previously a career Firefighter-Engineer, specializing in Technical Rope Rescue and Swift-water Rescue. In 2002 I began volunteering as a Wildland/Structural Firefighter as a way to give back to the community; during this time I learned how to fell trees, particularly those that hang over structures and cannot simply be dropped. 

Working around residential structures and electric utilities requires a close relationship with IREA and other utility providers to accomplish complex removals. I have a good record and personal connections within the community from years of service.

I'm kind of old-school with technology and prefer a handshake over a contract. I’m not a jack-of-all trades, just a few. We all have limitations, and humility recognizes wisdom. Please be careful if you cut your own trees. Leaning or dead trees can be fatal and ladders not tied off correctly can kill many homeowners.
